Though certainly not new, first person shooter games on the iPhone tend to be a hit or a miss. A small screen, together with a couple of cramped HUDs and enemies that appear merely as tiny specks usually bring frustration among smartphone game players who are just looking for some good ‘’shoot him up’’ action.
Developed by Zhao Zhiyuan, Mini-showdown takes a unique new twist on the FPS genre. This app, with its wild west and numerous features is refreshingly fun and interesting to play.
Concept and GamePlay:
We can only describe this iphone gaming app as fast-paced adrenaline rush. Matches typically last in less than a minute depending on how quick the two of your can aim and tap the screen.
We must admit that there are other great FPS games out there. But unlike what we’ve seen in the recent past, the great graphics and cute western themes in Mini Showdown means it’s very attractive to the eye so that players can only enjoy a true experience in the world of mobile gaming.
If you are just starting out, you’ll be taken through an in-depth tutorial that will guide you through the entire gameplay. But this tutorial also guides you through the game’s menu as well as the different features incorporated into this beautiful game.
To get into action, simply go to the arena and wait to be matched by an opponent. Once that is done, you’ll need to tilt your phone from side to side in order to aim at the enemy and shoot them. Your main goal is to aim at your enemy and shoot them before they can eliminate you.
However, regarding the arena, some players feel that matches tend to be uneven in terms of level of skills they match you with. This means that you can be matched by someone who can take you down with one shot only.
Features:
This gaming app has a wide variety of fire arms that you can unlock as you advance in the levels. Furthermore, you can buy appearance items for the character representing you with the coins you earn from duels.
You can also purchase props such as dynamite. Though the shop is very nice in terms of what it offers, you can’t purchase everything until you attain level 5. Therefore, you must win a lot of duels since experience points are never awarded for lost duels.
Cons:
Whereas the gameplay is so unique, the tilt to aim feature sometimes works inconsistently. Sometimes it works fine. Of course this can lead to frustration because you’ll lose duels in the process.
Conclusion:
This amazing app is universally compatible with both iPhone and iPad. Even though there are a few things that still need tweaking, it’s still a game with a great concept that all players will love.
