Photo filter apps provide cool ways to add a personal touch to your mobile photos and share them with friends. Most of them come with editing tools and social sharing options. Most of you must be familiar with Instagram, the photo-sharing program that allows you add filters to your photos before sharing them on social networks. If you are looking for a multilayer photo filter app with loads of customization options, PhoFilter is a good one to try.
PhoFilter has a collection of many customizable filters. It belongs to the Photo & Video category in the App Store. The app allows you to add and create filters to enhance your images. The app provides 158 filters and you can combine a maximum of 12 filters to create a new one. You can save these new filters you have created as custom filters. Filters can be edited, deleted, re-ordered and renamed easily.
When you tap open the app, you will find all the filters displayed on the screen. The app allows you to edit individual filters and change their order. The customization screen has a slide bar adjuster using which you can adjust the filter to get the results you require.
You can share the filters you have created on various social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. You can also save them in the album and send them to others via email. You can also make use of the filters that have been created by your friends. The app allows you to make use of images captured by the camera. With Phofilter can import a maximum of 30 pictures from the camera roll. You can also share the images on Instagram, Dropbox, Twitter, Facebook and Weibo. The app saves both the original and edited images to the album. It also allows you to save images to the gallery along with the filters you have applied. You can customize your albums by adding/removing images from them, use password locking, change the password of private albums or delete the entire album.
PhoFilter has got a separate palette to change text and frame colors. It supports 16,581,375 colors and you can save/delete the colors used most often. When I tried to use the color palette, it didn’t work. I also found that there was not much of a variation among the filters.
The user-interface of the app is well-designed. With PhoFilter, you need not edit the pictures one by one; you can edit and share 30 pictures in one go. You can easily navigate from one page to another by clicking the left and right buttons that are found in the bottom of the screen. You can purchase more frame filters, text filters, location filters and date filters for $0.99 each. I felt that the price of the app is a tad high as there are plenty of free photo filter apps out there that have a lot to offer, without the additional purchases.
PhoFilter has updated with the version 1.54.244 and requires iOS 5.1 or later versions. Also it has expected to continue to sell for free from the price of $1.99!
